We are thrilled that Marnix Huis Int Veld, the founder of Macheo Children's Centre, our partner in Kenya, will be joining us on 27th March to answer all your questions about his work and the vital part that Kipawa plays in supporting it.
We will also be launching our annual report and hearing from our trustee, Kirsty, about her recent trip to Ruiru. All that and a small refreshment too!
We would be delighted if you could join us on Wednesday 27th March at 7.30pm in Pollock Pavillion, 227 Ferry Road, Edinburgh. All welcome! Please share!
Hope all the New Year’s resolutions are going well?! Have you set yourself a challenge for 2019?
Entries for this year’s Edinburgh Marathon close tomorrow so why not sign up and raise some money for Kipawa while you’re at it? We can help with setting up fundraising pages, publicity - anything you need, just shout. (The training’s down to you though ).
There are also shorter distances and kids races available too if you want to get the whole family involved. Take a look:
Thank you so much to Gullane Primary School for suggesting in the most recent newsletter that families might want to give a donation to Kipawa* instead of giving Christmas presents to teachers. What a thoughtful and generous idea. To give you and idea of how far your donation can go in Kenya...
Please consider making a donation this Christmas.
*other charities are available!
On the second proper day of their visit to Kenya, Jimmy & Margot visited Oaklands school, met the students we sponsor at secondary school and learned that "Kipawa kicks problems away".
Jimmy and Margot packed a lot in to their first full day visiting Mukuyu school with Kirsty, meeting some of the staff, children and families supported by Kipawa and taking some more great photos!
We were treated to a delicious dinner this evening, beautifully prepared and served by the p7 children of Gullane Primary School (with some help from the staff of Greywalls Hotel & Chez Roux!).
Many thanks to M. Roux for his generosity in supporting the evening and to the staff of Greywalls. Thanks to Mr Adamson, Mrs Ross, Mrs McGillivray and all the other staff who made the evening possible. And particular thanks to the p7s who chose Kipawa as the charity to benefit from the evening.
