Carols By Candlelight - THANK YOU!!

13/12/2015

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to Carols By Candlelight in St Adrian's Church in Gullane yesterday. It was a wonderful afternoon showcasing a wealth of talent and Christmas spirit. On behalf of Kipawa, thank you to Joanna and Orland Heijmer-Mason for putting the whole event together and for choosing Kipawa as the charity they wanted to support. Everyone clearly had a fantastic time.

Thanks to everyone's marvellous generosity, we raised over £850 for Kipawa. That is a fantastic amount and will go a very long way to helping the children and families of Ruiru in Kenya.

Thanks also to John Bradley, Jane Kirk and the members of the Edinburgh Choral Union, Janet Anderson, Ros Richardson, St Adrian's Church, Gullane Parish Church, Shonagh McEwan, Gordon and Heather Kirk, North Berwick Tesco, Gullane Co-op and everyone else who worked so hard to make this event such a success.

Please contact us if you would like any of the photos emailed to you.

Request for donations to Mukuya Nursery Class

On 30 October, one of our Trustees, Kirsty Welsh is heading out to Kenya to visit our friends at Mukuya School. On this trip we plan to focus on creating a better, more stimulating room for the nursery class at the school.

Kipawa has already been involved in building and refurbishing the nursery classroom and part-funding the nursery teacher. Now, the children need some really basic supplies to stimulate their learning - things our kids in the UK take for granted like pictures on the wall, books, paints and paper. Nursery education is not funded by the Kenyan government and even a small amount of money will make a huge difference to them.

We would be grateful for anything you can give, using the link to the Virgin Money Giving site below, before 20th October. We will ensure your donation is spent to benefit the nursery children at Mukuya school.

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity.

Particular thanks to Stephen Carlin for organising the event, the artists for donating their time and skills and to the Gilded Balloon for providing the venue. Tickets sales and donations given after the show amounted to over £1000 for Kipawa, all of which will go to help the children at Ruiru school in Kenya.

All last night's performers have full shows at the Edinburgh Fringe. Do go along and see them if you can - just click on the names above for tickets!

Kipawa supporter, Jimmy Hudson, will be cycling 100 miles to raise much-needed funds for Kipawa's work in Ruiru, Kenya.

He will be taking on a cycling challenge like no other, through the roads of London and the Surrey Hills on 4th August 2013. Just hours before the world’s top cyclists race the RideLondon Classic, 20,000 cyclists will cycle a modified version of the London 2012 Olympic Road Race.

RideLondon100 will start in the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follow the closed roads through the capital and onto Surrey’s stunning country roads and hills. With leg-testing climbs and a route recently made famous by the world’s best cyclists, this promises to be truly spectacular and challenging event for all involved.

Please sponsor Jimmy if you can at:

Many congratulations to Nick Taylor and Lewis Curry from Newcastle who won first place in the Kipawa Charity Golf Day held on 29th June 2013 at Archerfield Golf Club in East Lothian. Nick also won the 'Longest Drive' competition and the 'Nearest the Pin' prize was taken by Des Barr from Paisley.

A great day was had by all and we are grateful to everyone who took part with such enthusiasm!

Thanks must also go to all at Archerfield Golf Club and everyone else who worked so hard to make the day possible. The money raised will really help the children we are working with in Ruiru, Kenya.

More photos of the day can be seen here.
